Dynamics NAV 2009 Implementation: Medbuy
Medbuy is one of the first truly full-service Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO) in Canada that leverages the collective purchasing power of a group of healthcare organizations across Canada to obtain best pricing from suppliers based on volume. In addition to simple group purchasing, Medbuy offers value added services including access to e-tools, spend management data and analytics as well as peer to peer networking and education opportunities.
They have a number of outsourced and off site solutions to control and support their operations and interactions with their members. Each one of these systems has a separate annual cost and in many cases these tools offer little flexibility and in some cases only a subset of the full features are being utilized. Medbuy engaged Epimatic to implement a contract management system based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 and web services.
Epimatic worked with the development team at Medbuy to design, build and deploy a solution that maximized the existing investment in the Microsoft technology and allowed them full customizability going forward. The eCatalogue solution was selected as the first outsourced system that was brought in house and provides Medbuy with the ability to manage and publish their contracts in real time in NAV and securely shared with members on the web. This solution gives Medbuy the ability to change the business rules that govern their contracts in NAV as their business evolves without having to engage outside vendors or wait for a service update. Medbuy was able to recoup their original investment in software and services in less than a year, increase control of their operations and improve their members’ user experience.
The key technologies and applications that were used were:
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008
- Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5
- Devexpress ASP.NET Suite 10
- Dynamics NAV Web Services
In their own words:
“The Epimatic team delivered a great solution, on time and on budget and we are very satisfied with the results.”
